Privacy Policy Overview

Urban Mapping (UMI's) Privacy Policy covers the collection, use, and disclosure of personal information that may be collected by UMI anytime you interact with UMI or UMI's Services. This document outlines our information practices, including what type of information is gathered, how the information is used and for what purposes, to whom we disclose the information, and how we safeguard your personal information.
UMI’s products and Services as well as its web sites are designed primarily for adults (18+), and we do not knowingly collect any information from or pertaining to minors.  If we determine that you are under the age of 18 and have provided us with personal information (for yourself or a third party), we will use that information solely to contact you and inform you that we require your parent or guardian provide his or her consent to your use of our web sites, and Services. If you are under the age of 18, we require that you provide us your parent’s or guardian’s written consent to your use of our web sites and Services by sending such written consent to us, attention: Legal Department.

What information we collect and how we may use it

The only personal information collected is information you consciously provide us. When you interact with UMI for the purposes of technical support or sales, we may collect personal information relevant to the situation, such as your name, mailing address, phone numbers, email addresses, contact preferences, your credit/debit card information and information about the UMI Services you use and information relating to a support or service issue. Certain of the UMI Services require us to respond to some of the following questions: "which neighborhood is this address located within," "how far is this address from a subway station," "which counties are located within a five mile radius of this address?" This is not an exhaustive list of questions, but it is representative. We collect no personal information about these addresses and have no way of associating an individual with this information. We currently utilize Google Analytics to know aggregate statistics of visitors to our site, but no means of knowing about you as an individual. In some instances, we may supplement information you give us with information from other sources, such as information to validate or update an address, and credit/debit card information. We use this information to contribute to the accuracy of the information we collect, enabling us to better provide our Services and better target our communications, for instance to let you know about new Services that you may be interested in, and for internal business analytics and other business purposes consistent with our mission and this Privacy Policy.

Certain of our Services may incorporate content licensed to us by various third parties. In most cases, we host the licensed content; in others, however, the third party hosts it on their own servers while our customers (such as you) access that content via our web sites. In these latter cases, the content provider may collect aggregate tracking information such as domain name and IP address for those accessing their content via the UMI servers. This tracking information is primarily collected to ensure the security of both the UMI and third party web servers. UMI prohibits these third parties from using the tracking information they may collect in any manner that might violate this Privacy Policy.

UMI uses personally identifiable information collected through all channels for the purpose for which it was collected. We may also use it to contact you regarding your use of our Services, or service issues regarding the same. We may use the information you provide to fulfill any order you may place with us as well as to contact you regarding fulfillment of such an order and payments for the same. If you contact UMI for technical assistance regarding any of our goods or Services we may use the information you provide to contact you in reply.

We may use the information you provide us to provide you with notices concerning the provision of our goods and Services when it is proper to do so, such as instances when a Service becomes unavailable due to maintenance or other causes. Generally speaking you may not opt out of these communications.

When you provide UMI with your personal information in connection with an inquiry or a purchase of a Service, you agree that this action constitutes a purchase or inquiry establishing a business relationship with us. You expressly consent to our communicating with you in the future to provide you information about UMI, our products and Services using the information you provided us. As a result, we can contact you via any of the methods you provided us with contact information for including email, text (SMS) message, and telephone calls and messages.
You understand that any communication of any nature that we might send to you that you receive on a mobile device may result in your mobile service provider billing you for receiving such communication, and you agree that such costs are solely your responsibility.
UMI contracts with other companies to provide certain services on our behalf, such as credit/debit card processing, shipping, mailing, emailing, SMS messaging and others. When we utilize such services, we provide the service providers only with the minimum amount of your information necessary for them to provide UMI the contracted service(s), and we prohibit the service providers from using your information in any manner that might violate this Privacy Policy.
If you chose to send UMI emails, you are aware that information contained in emails may not be secure or encrypted and may therefore be intercepted or otherwise “hacked” by third parties. Please do not include credit/debit or other financial information (including a social security number) in an email to us.
